Treat & Reduce Rosacea

Rosacea Treatment

At West Wilson Aesthetics, we use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to successfully treat rosacea. IPL offers a gentle, long-lasting solution for those suffering from Rosacea by providing a gradual and natural improvement to the skin's appearance.

What is it?

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that most often affects the face. It causes redness, visible blood vessels, and pimples. Rosacea can also cause burning and stinging. Rosacea is a common condition, affecting more than 16 million Americans.

What does it treat?

IPL uses controlled light in specific wavelengths to alleviate the inflammation, redness, pimples and uneven skin tones caused by the condition. The IPL procedure removes facial superficial vessels, and as a result dramatically decreases or completely eliminates facial redness.

What can you expect?

Each IPL rosacea treatment only lasts around 15-30 minutes, with the IPL element only taking a few minutes.

How-to prepare

A few days before your appointment, discontinue any at-home exfoliation including use of Vitamin A or retinol products. Come to your appointment with a clean face- remove all makeup if area to be treated is the face.

Expected downtime

You can expect several days of social downtime following treatment due to redness and swelling, and possible bruising. Your skin may feel itchy and dry. You may also notice a darkening of age spots or freckles which will develop a crust, dry up and slowly flake off. These are expected and temporary side effects that will all resolve within 1 week.

How Many IPL Sessions are Needed to Treat Rosacea?

You can expect a series of 1-3 sessions, every 4-6 weeks, to treat recurring rosacea symptoms.

Once you achieve your desired results, touch-up IPL for rosacea sessions every 6 months to one year may be necessary to maintain your desired results.
